THE TERRITORY
We are located in Puglia, in the lower area, named Salento.
Salento (Salentu in Salento dialect ), also known as the Salento peninsula, is a subregion of the Puglia southern, located between the Ionian Sea at west and the Adriatic sea at east.
Figuratively it constitutes the heel of the Italian boot
and it is the easternmost area of Italy.
Specifically, we are in Lido Marini, a small seaside town on the Ionian Sea.
Lido Marini has two beaches and is part of both the Ugento and Salve marinas. The main beach of Lido Marini is a long stretch of golden sand, full of intense colors and scents, which stretches for about two kilometers in the direction of Torre Mozza. With a succession of sandy dunes and sea basins, it is part of the protected natural park of Ugento.
The other beach, called "small beach", is a small pearl of sand framed on the external sides by a succession of very small areas of unspoiled sand, alternating with rocks with shallow water and easy to access, with a path that can be traveled on foot or by mountain biking in the Mediterranean bush that extends towards Torre Pali. It is part of the protected marine area of Salve, the natural habitat of sea turtles, which have always nested in these small quiet bays. With a bit of luck, sightings in the sea are frequent, even near the shore of the "small beach", especially in the months of May and June at the beginning of the summer season. Not to be missed for nature lovers.
At Lido Marini you can sink your feet in the soft and clear sand, inebriate yourself with the scent of the Mediterranean bush, fill your eyes with the thousand shades of the sea and the sunsets, while letting yourself be lulled by the waves of the water.
It is a regenerating and healthy experience to discover the most beautiful beaches along the coastal road which, on the Ionian seaside of the Lower Salento, travels from Gallipoli to Santa Maria di Leuca. Here nature is the protagonist, with a low and sandy coast, the transparent backdrops, the play of colors between the Mediterranean bush, the sky and the sea, the lighthouses and towers that watch over the coast, the dunes, the sea lilies and the prickly pears that frame the "Tropics of Italy".

OUR ADVICE
stay tuned! new info are coming!
Salento is all beautiful, and Lido Marini is located in a strategic point in order to explore both the Ionian coast, with
a low and sandy coast, and the Adriatic one, characterized
from spectacular cliffs with coves and caves. We mention also the amazing beauty of towns and cities such as Otranto, Gallipoli, Santa Maria di Leuca, Presicce, Specchia, Lecce, and the delicious and genuine food that you can taste.
- The Ionian coast -
It is impossible not to be tempted by the white shores, the transparent and clean water and the sparkle of Caribbean colors all along the coast between Ugento and Leuca, whose beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag.
The stunning beach of Torre Mozza is a very long sandy coast with an ancient tower sighting in ruins a few meters from the sea.
Here the sand is white and soft and the water is shallow and warm; a large part of the lido is equipped, but in 10 kilometers of beach there are unspoiled corners where you can enjoy the sea in complete quiet.
From Lido Marini towards Santa Maria di Leuca the road continues to the marina of Torre Pali, a fishing village between soft beaches,
the marina and the ancient sixteenth-century watchtower, now in ruins, which lies right in the middle of the sea and which at sunset
turns pink. The shoreline, in front of the partially submerged tower, can be easily reached on foot from the square of the port. From the lido you arrive in another romantic place, the beach of Isola della Fanciulla: it is an isolated rock that suddenly emerges from the sea and which has always stimulated many legends about its origin.
The coast that stretches to the south is a succession of beautiful beaches, of wild lilies, of half-hidden umbrellas by the dunes and some beach clubs for those who don't want to give up the sunbed
and a sunset cocktail. In August the beaches are busy, anyway along the coast it's possible to find small quiet and isolated corners.
In the localities of Pescoluse and Posto Vecchio, which are part of the marina of Salve, the beaches are so beautiful, sandy and with shallow waters that they are commonly called the "Maldives of Salento". Pescoluse is one of the four sandy beaches of the marina of Salve: many sections are equipped, but there are just as many free portions with sand dunes.
There are several access points along the dunes; it is advisable to walk on the sand to find the most suitable corner to stop.
Just outside Pescoluse there is a place of rocks that deserves to be seen: the Sources of Torre Vado, where you immerse yourself in an invigorating and refreshing springs, which are large pools of spring water at a constant temperature both in winter and in summer.
The road continues towards Torre Vado, a few kilometers from Santa Maria di Leuca. On the beach there are restaurants, clubs and establishments from where it is possible to leave for boat excursions to the caves of Santa Maria di Leuca or where you can enjoy an aperitif at sunset.
Gallipoli, Otranto, Santa Cesarea, Castro and Lecce deserve separate chapters. Stay tuned!
